Caamp: Slamming Stages as a Banjo Playing Power Trio
Our featured artist of the week is folk duo turned trio – Caamp! Starting off as boyhood friends, Evan Westfall and Taylor Meier formed in Athens, Ohio and began performing as Caamp in 2015. After years of penning heartfelt tunes in a hazy attic and enjoying light beers, Caamp independently released their self-titled first record in 2016. Since then, they have climbed Spotify charts, headlined their own shows, opened for Rainbow Kitten Surprise and added a bass-playing pal, Matt Vinson, to the outfit.
Their sophomore album “Boys” has high hopes and no reservations. With Evan on banjo and Taylor on guitar, plus vocals with subtle raspiness and clear sincerity, Caamp’s music sounds as earnest and genuine as it could possibly get. Caamp takes the Hilltop Stage on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. We can’t imagine a better late afternoon than one with live tunes from Caamp in our beloved Garfield Park. Grab tickets so you don’t miss out!
